Elephant's Graveyard
May 12 thru June 4, 2011
The true tale of a tragic collision of a struggling circus and a tiny town in Tennessee, ELEPHANT’S GRAVEYARD chronicles the only known lynching of an elephant. Set in September 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exploring the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and vengeance.
ELEPHANT’S GRAVEYARD, an assemblage of expertly interwoven monologues by George Brant, combines the quirks of the circus with eloquence akin to the American Classic The Spoon River Anthology.
